The Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) is a crown corporation established by Parliament by the Public Sector Pension Investment Board Act (September 1999). The mandate of PSP Investments is to manage employer and employee contributions made after April 1, 2000 to the federal Public Service, the Canadian Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police pension funds. PSP Investments has recently been given the mandate to manage the employer and employee contributions made after March 1, 2007 to the Reserve Force Pension Fund. Annual net contributions to these pension funds are approximately $4 billion and forecasted net contributions are expected to remain positive until 2030. POSITION PROFILE
CORE ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting to the Manager, Service Delivery the Business Analyst, appointed to the private market investment groups is responsible for assisting pipeline and development teams during implementation initiatives or for the improvement of internal applications, business programs, interfaces and all related application components.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fully understand the operations and business processes of his/her assigned internal business units.
- Collect, document and analyze the user’s business needs.
- Develop and document business processes along with the users.
- Elaborate solutions, analyze their impacts and make recommendations.
- Translate business requirements into functional and configuration requirements.
- Document functional specifications.
- Act as a middleman between the client and the IT team to ensure proper understanding of the requirements and that solutions are delivered according to expectations.
- Support project team members so that problems and issues are resolved with the minimum involvement of users.
- Assist developers in producing their deliverables.
- Elaborate strategies and functional test plans and execute them.
- Elaborate User Acceptance Test plan (UAT) and document related tests cases.
- Produce users’ manuals.
- Develop training materials and coordinate training sessions.
- Actively participate in the deployment of solutions in production.
- Produce quality deliverables and ensure that delivered solutions are well documented.
- Participate in the evolution of implemented solutions and offer support in case of incidents or problems.
- Comply with applicable IT procedures, standards and promote best IT practices related to his/her area of responsibilities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related Technology field or an acceptable combination of a college degree and relevant experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years in the IT field
- Minimum of 5 years in business analysis
- Proven historical success of delivered projects and users satisfaction
- Investment or financial fields
- Development of in-house applications and implementation of software packages
- Integration of software packages and development of interfaces, an asset
- Experience with BI (Business Intelligence) , an asset
- Practical experience in development technologies and tools, preferably Microsoft
Knowledge
- Knowledge of investment field, ideally of private markets
- Knowledge of the development phases of application systems
- Conception principles based on layered architecture, an asset
- Bilingual (French and English)
